Please let SCR know if you are hearing problems with fingerprinting and licensing. 803-772-5206

SCR has heard some fingerprinting complaints.

Fingerprinting appointments are backlogged for weeks/months.

Fingerprints were rejected.

LLR responded to SCR inquiries.

LLR is aware of the backlog and rejection issues.

LLR contracts with IDENTOGO via SLED for fingerprints.

LLR says the fastest current solution is to work with IDENTOGO and deal with the delays.

LLR says that some police stations will fingerprint but there are reports of COVID-19 delays. LLR says that mailing paper fingerprint cards for police fingerprinting that still must go through the IDENTOGO/SLED processing center in Tennessee only adds more delay but is a possible procedure.

LLR says that only if the fingerprints are rejected can FBI/SLED do a name search for background checking. Realize that names are often duplicate (e.g., John Smith) which creates problems and people may use fake names to evade their criminal background from being discovered which creates problems. So, fingerprint background check helps avoid these problems.

LLR says they must have a license application to store fingerprints.
